Thomas Jones was the son of John and Catharine Jones of Tyn y coed, Llanddaniel. He was baptized at Llanddaniel church on 9 Oct. 1786.)

The first part of this month was rather wet. The market was very high – wheat £5:5; barley £3; oats 30/ to 38; no potatoes.

Saturday. Fine. Been in Amlwch with Jane and Catherine, Llyslew. (Note: Jane and Catherine Jones of Llyslew, Llanidan were William Jones’ cousins, and daughters of William and Elinor Jones. Jane was born on 9 Sept. 1823 and died on 4 Nov. 1881, being buried in Llanidan churchyard. She was the mother of Sir Ellis Jones Ellis-Griffith. Catherine died at Treifan, Brynsiencyn on 16 July 1898 aged 70 and was buried in Llanidan churchyard. She was a corn-merchant in Manchester and married John Smith Black. Their only child, William Jones Black was born on 23 Feb. 1858, qualified in Medicine and died at the age of 30 on 22 Dec. 1888. He too was buried at Llanidan. In her second marriage, Catherine married William Thomas Parry of Manchester. Their daughter Eleanor Catherine Parry who was born on 2 June 1864 and died on 28 Jan. 1925 married William Jones’ son, William Humphreys Jones.)

The following part of this month was very dry. Very good hay harvest. Good crops of hay and corn. We were very heavy. Shut drains in cae rhwyn and waun fawr and bach. The price of grain is lower now – wheat 3:10 to 3:15; barley 48/0; oats 25/ to 27/0; hay 1/8 to 1/10.

Cattle prices have come down.
